Privacy Policy
Plain-language details on what we collect and why. Short version: only what you type into our forms, used only to prepare your report and reply.
Last updated: October 14, 2026. PirateHound is operated by 5DayDeal LLC ("we", "us"). This policy explains what we collect on piratehound.com and what we do with it.
What we collect
When you use our free report or contact form, we collect what you type in:
- your name and email address
- your store or product page link
- the course or product name, what you sell, and any notes you add
We also keep a short, one-way scrambled version of your IP address (not the address itself) for up to an hour to stop spam and repeated submissions.
The site itself does not use cookies, advertising trackers or third-party analytics. If we add privacy-friendly analytics later, we'll update this page first.
How we use it
- to search for pirated copies of the products you tell us about and prepare your report
- to email you that report and reply to your message
- if you become a client, to provide the service you signed up for
We don't sell your information, rent it, or use it for advertising. We won't add you to a newsletter unless you ask.
Who we share it with
Only the service providers we need to run the site and send email: our web host (BigScoots, in the United States) and our email delivery provider (toSend, which uses Amazon SES). They process data on our behalf and may not use it for anything else. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
Takedown notices
If you hire us to file removal requests, those notices include the copyright owner's name and the details of the infringing material. Search engines such as Google may publish copies of notices to the Lumen database. We'll explain this before filing anything for you.
How long we keep it
We keep form submissions for up to 24 months so we can follow up on reports, then delete them. Client records are kept while you're a client and as long as tax and legal rules require afterwards.
Your choices
You can ask us to show you, correct or delete the information we hold about you at any time, using our contact form. Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK or California) you may have additional rights, and we'll honor them.
Security
Form submissions are stored on our server outside the public website, readable only by our account, and sent over encrypted connections.
Children
PirateHound is a business service and isn't directed at children under 16.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top. Significant changes will be noted on this page.
